BIO
Jonathon “Jono” Shannon is an advertising creative director, screenwriter, and internationally published author.
He’s been recognised at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the D&AD Global Association for Creative Advertising and Design, and The One Club for Creativity – and one of his ideas is even permanently housed in the archives of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
As the co-founder and Director of independent creative agency Supersolid, Jonathon’s work combines commercial value with creative craft and cultural impact. He’s distilled travel memories into a sold-out fragrance (Cathay Pacific), un-staged The Australian Ballet (Telstra), created a personalised unit of velocity (Audi), enabled the world’s first bank transaction of a social currency (Ally Financial), and helped implement a tertiary-level sexual consent subject (Charles Sturt University).
Outside of his commercial work, Jonathon’s screenwriting has been Officially Selected for the Academy Awards® qualifying St Kilda Film Festival and was awarded Best Documentary Screenplay at Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival.
Jonathon’s debut novel Bound to Happen is a subversive rom-com about the fatalism of love and an incomplete understanding of string theory. It was published in Australia and New Zealand by Ultimo Press in 2023, and is currently being translated into Portuguese.
